As captain of the West Wilkes High School Electric Vehicle Team I can honestly say that attending the Energy Though Summit in Raleigh was an eye opening experience. The event was everything that I was hoping it would be, in that it reinforced my support of the alternative energy field. While I know that the field has begun to expand in recent years, I did not know that it was growing at such an exponential rate. Hearing about all of the countless companies that are putting time and money into clean technology gives me hope that there will one day be a place for me in a similar career. The most interesting part of the event was the fact that it not only reinforced my knowledge, but brought to my attention the fact that the clean energy field is so much larger than just clean energy. It is a field that will one day have to include countless other systems; such as big data, smart cities, a large workforce, and many other facets in order to operate efficiently. Getting to witness all of these plans, ideas, and leaders in the field first hand was a life altering experience that I will never forget.
