"The things that I learned at the 2014 STEP Challenge was more than I anticipated! Working on both the electric cars and RC cars was more preferred by me. The main reason is because I had many opportunities to work with my hands." --Justus

"I had an amazing time traveling to NC State to compete in the STEP Challenge. Building, prepping, and racing the cars taught me a lot but was extremely fun at the same time. The small scale electric cars made it much easier to understand electric vehicles on a larger scale. Not only was the event itself exciting, but the people I met and spoke to was as well. The professors and recent college graduates at the event told me a lot about NC State and gave me their own opinions on certain degrees and fields of study. I am already looking forward to next year's event and can not wait to attend it again." --Caleb
"During the STEP event I had a lot of fun, and I got to meet new people and make new friends. I also got to learn how to better use a solar charging station, and better increase my knowledge on RC cars. I also learned how to maintain and repair them RC cars. One of my favorite parts was when I got to compete in the endurance event; as I was driving I learned how to drive RC cars better. While at the event I also got to interact with other groups and had the opportunity to learn from them. One thing I learned more about a lot while I was there was solar charging stations. But all in all just being able to go and take place in this event was amazing, and I can’t wait till next year. I will know how to be a better driver and know what to expect from the competitors." --Jeffrey
My Experience at the NEAT Rally was a exciting experience, This was my first ever time going to an EV competition and it was great. I learned about the competitors EV’s and how to compete in pit crew and how to interact with the other competitors. The challenging part for me being a sophomore without knowing much about cars was probably the pit crew. I plan to improve my skills in pit crew by practicing with my team with a practice schedule for the people who are going to be in pit crew
My name is Ashley and I am on the EV Team at my school. I am also the teams leader, this is my third year on the team. This past weekend our school went to the NEAT Rally near Virginia. This is my third time going on this trip and it was as amazing as it is each year. I love doing this event; it is so much more relaxed than the EV Challenge. At this event I was the Miatas driver. I drove in the autocross, range, and acceleration. I also did jeopardy, troubleshooting, and pit crew. I had a lot of fun, and every year I get to meet a lot of incredible people. At these events, it’s not like a football game where you don’t like your opponents, the other teams talk to each other, we have lunch and dinner together. It’s all in good spirit, and that’s one thing I love about this. I love getting to know new people. I can’t wait for the next event in April.
